Hope i don't piss off locals but some really great authentic gumbo, some great po boys and other foods! they do it with potato salad which is so good in colder months! we got the pilly cheesesteack po boy and nachos, my boyfriend cleared the plate it was so good. They had a bunch of games you can play at the booths, a pool table, etc. A great bar/restaurant all around. One of tour guides recommended it and we love local places. super clean, good people, not too expensive or loud and open later than most places

A Magical Stop in the French Quarter — Bubbles, Beer, and a Bit of Jeopardy Stopped into MRB Bar & Kitchen on a warm June afternoon for a cold beer and to see what all the bubble controversy was about. I’m glad I did — it turned out to be one of those unexpectedly great stops that make wandering New Orleans so fun. The beer was ice cold, the courtyard was relaxed, and yes — the bubbles really did make it feel magical. They floated through the air like something out of a dream, adding just the right touch of charm and whimsy. Inside, Jeopardy! was playing on the TV, and there’s something oddly comforting about sipping a beer while half-watching trivia with a local crowd chiming in with answers. Whether you’re chasing bubbles or just looking for a solid place to cool off, MRB is a vibe. Definitely worth a visit!

Local dive bar with great food and great people. You can tell most of the people are regulars and know the people working at the bar. Very friendly, you place your food order out in the back and order your drinks at the bar. Would've never thought I would get the best chargrilled oysters and fish sandwich on just the looks from the outside, but it was recommended by a friend when she found out we'd be in town. Everyone was very friendly and inviting. I will be recommending this place to the next person visiting New Orleans and look forward to eating and drinking here next time we're in town.

We stopped here after a Ghost & Vampire Tour in New Orleans, and had a great experience thanks to Mike! This was one of the attractions from the Go City Pass, which includes your choice of an entree. My friend and I shared the charbroiled oysters, gumbo, and chicken fried alligator sandwich, but the oysters and gumbo stole the show.

Great vibes! Tucked away gem. Live music, and indoor and outdoor seating options. Food was exceptional. River Bottom Burger was absolutely the best burger I have ever had! Mac and Cheese was delicious as well. Mike, who took orders at the window is a Superstar! He made my daughter and I laugh so hard. Thank you for great experience!

The gentleman behind the bar showed us how to eat the boil and embrace the experience. A really friendly guy helping some obvious tourists in need of instruction. We shared a lb with 2 friends (4 of us in total) and enjoyed the experience. Would recommend to anyone wanting to try a boil!

Crawfish mac n cheese was amazing, we had to go back just for seconds of that. Sandwiches also were great, super happy to go back here. Service was a bit slow but not crazy. Sports bar vibes but 2 nice back outside areas when it’s nice out

Down in the tangled guts of the French Quarter sits the Mississippi River Bottom—MRB to the initiated. If you’re drinking in a place called the Mississippi River Bottom, you’ve already accepted a certain level of depravity. This is a bar where riverboat gamblers, pirates, and multiple men named Bubba have made bad decisions for generations. You come for a Saints game and wake up at 3 a.m. deep in conversation with a guy who swears he was smuggling rum up the bayou before the Coast Guard caught up to him back in 32. It’s got all the dive bar essentials- Multiple courtyards, Sharks and a ghost in the women’s bathroom because of course there is. Once a brothel, it carries whispers of speakeasy days, gangland murders, and folklore that make it feel like time just isn’t done with it yet. But look, we didn’t come here just for the ghosts or the conspiracies. We came here to eat. And the only right answer is the Oysters Menard. Now, let’s get one thing straight—these ain’t just oysters. This is something more, something bigger, something damn near holy. They start with fat Louisiana oysters, the kind that still taste like they remember the sea, and they chargrill ‘em in butter so rich it should probably come with a will-writing service. Then comes the parmesan, melting into the crevices like it was always meant to be there, the garlic butter seeping deep, the Roma tomatoes bringing just a whisper of sweetness before the fresh jalapenos slap you awake like a preacher on Sunday morning. You take that first bite, and suddenly the world slows down a little. You lean back in your chair, let the courtyard fans mist you just enough to keep you from melting, and listen to some poor bastard wailing his soul out on a saxophone nearby. The smoke curls up, carrying the scent of butter, garlic, and fire—like the bayou and a backyard barbecue decided to throw a party together. The oyster’s shell cradles its prize, bubbling and golden, edges crisped just enough to remind you that heat is both a creator and a destroyer. You raise it to your lips, the half-shell still hot from the grill, and tip it back. That first bite? And it’s a revelation. You taste the slow burn that builds like a story you already know the ending to but want to hear again anyway. By the time you go for another, you’ve already decided this is the only way oysters should be eaten. Forks become irrelevant. Napkins, too. There’s just you, the oysters, and the knowledge that life doesn’t hand out too many moments this perfect—so you damn well better enjoy it while it lasts. And that’s MRB. A place where you can drink, eat, sweat just a little less than usual, and maybe—just maybe—catch a glimpse of something bigger than yourself, be it a ghost in the bathroom or just the perfect bite of an oyster, smoky and rich, tasting like the Gulf and the fire that tamed it. Whatever you’re looking for—football, a haunted restroom, or just an excuse to linger a little longer—MRB’s got you covered.
